Manningtree Museum

Manningtree Museum

Manningtree Museum is housed within Manningtree Library and exists to provide a reference point for those interested in the history of the local area.

Manningtree, on the River Stour, is a small town, a parish, and a sub-district in Tendring district, Essex. The town is mentioned by Shakespeare in Henry IV Part 1 when Prince Henry spoke of “that roasted Manningtree ox with the pudding in his belly”.

Our small museum contains a number of well-organised and informative display cases, shelves, photographs, posters and other items telling the history of the local area and its inhabitants.
